How lucky we have been so far with the beautiful bright fresh mornings with the sun shining bright and the wonderful evening sunsets it doesn’t feel like winter has fully arrived yet. No doubt by the time this is published it will have set in and the evenings will be dark, cold and gloomy.
We found a great way to brighten the evening at Beech hill, with our shopping event! It really was a resounding success and the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit. We must thank our wonderful sponsors at Village Properties - they made a huge difference with the advertising boards, letting everyone know the event was coming soon. There is nothing better than listening to carols on a church organ whilst drinking mulled wine, browsing at truly beautiful homemade products or just chatting to a friend in the pews and soaking up the atmosphere. If you are yet to come along, put it in the diary for next year it really is worth a visit.
To celebrate the festive season we stole an idea from our friends at Starbucks and have created some yummy festive hot drinks. So come along and try the Christmas hot chocolate with yummy Christmas spices and beautiful golden sprinkles or a gingerbread hot chocolate or latte with a cheeky little gingerbread man on top!
Thinking about cheeky little men, Jude got a surprise one morning when she arrived at the shop to find a little vegetable family waiting for her! We don’t know where they came from and who was responsible but they certainly make our vegetable baskets look a lot more fun now, I am sure you will agree.
This month has as usual been one for lots of visitors, but this time from the media and marketing fraternity. Firstly, we were part of a really lovely piece on Berkshire TV. The interviewer came along to the shop and spoke to Jude and me, as well as lots of our customers. We couldn’t have been more pleased with how we came across that evening on the television.
The following week Jude had a camera crew visiting for the whole afternoon, filming and taking a lot of shots of the shop for a promotional piece for The Plunkett foundation, [the charity which helps communities build projects such as ours]. We are being used as a showcase for others who might be thinking of doing something similar, which is a huge honour.
At this time of year we are busy making up bespoke hampers for those wishing to give them as gifts as well as collating all the Christmas orders. We are continuing to take the stress out of Christmas by providing all your food in one place ready for collection on Saturday 23rd December. There is still time to place an order so go online at www.bhvshop.co.uk and place your order now. If you can’t find what you want on the website just drop us a note via email or give us a call and I am sure we will manage to find whatever it is you need.
We will be open on Saturday 23rd December until 12:00 for collection of Christmas meat, cheese, veg and anything else ordered. Following this we will be closed until 08:30 on Tuesday 2nd January.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and suppliers for your support this year. We would especially like to thank our amazing team of volunteers who are so great at coming to work with us every single week without fail. Some of our volunteers have been with us since the day we opened which is a great commitment and one which we can’t thank them enough for. It has been a year of a lot of changes and we hoped that the shop would be able to sustain these which it certainly has with Jude’s fantastic enthusiasm and commitment. Karen stepped in to support Jude and between them they have sailed our community ship through to the New Year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
