The Village Shop was shortlisted for the Countryside Alliance Awards 2015, also known as the ‘Rural Oscars’.
This was a cause of great excitement within the village, and meant that the shop team, Samantha Moore and Jude Cresswell, were invited to the Houses of Parliament for the award ceremony in April 2016.
It provided a great opportunity to showcase the Village Shop on BBC South Today (watch the video here) and even merited a mention in the Daily Telegraph. Unfortunately the shop didn’t win this year, but it was a great honour to be among the 12 finalists selected from across England in the Village Shop category, and a good day was had by all.
In Sam and Jude’s (pictured) own words “Never mind we didn't make it this year, there are so many amazing people out there! We have had a great time today and are so pleased we got that opportunity and look forward to sharing a drink with everyone later.”
